Gunilla Kester, native of Sweden now resident in Western New York, teacher, writer, and musician, will be reading from and signing copies of her just published chapbook, Time of Sand and Teeth (Finishing Line Press), on Thursday, February 18, at 7 pm at Talking Leaves on Main Street. The event is free and the public is welcome. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Time of Sand and Teeth collects some of the poems Gunilla Kester has been publishing over the past decade or so in small literary journals and anthologies, and in newspapers over the past decade or so. The book has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and for the Jean Pedrick Chapbook Award. An earlier manuscript, The Mountain, Grieving for Harmony, was a finalist for the Colorado Prize for Poetry in 2005. Gunilla Kester lives inWilliamsville with her husband and two children. She has taught for many years at the Amherst School of Music and at Daemen College. She plays guitar in the group No Name Duo.
